its ironic. have you noticed how the people who do more always have time to do more? my grandmother was one of those people. apparently so was her mother. besides raising a handful of kids and managing a prudent budget, she found time to pursue creative crafts like weaving and embroidery. her skill in every area lives on in the legacy of accomplished individuals, a still-lovely house and of course the linen. when i weary of the drudgery of raising one kid and running a small apartment, i wonder what it would take to raise half a dozen children, oversee a few acres of property and manage livestock. it takes my breath away.
so to come back to where i started, i keep hearing friends say they would read more if they had more time, exercise if the right gym were closer to home, grow a garden if they had a little sunshine, go places if they earned more, decorate a house if only it were their own... ask a question and hear the million excuses why it can't be done.
then there are the others who go quietly about their lives and accomplish a little every day. nurture a few plants till unbeknownst, a garden comes to life around them; run a few miles every day till they complete a marathon, build a cozy little space one corner at a time; hitch plans with every group that’s going for a vacation.
